About

External expectations are stifling.

Have you ever thought, “sometimes I really don’t like myself – and my world,” and allowed those negative thoughts to spiral into isolation from everyone who cares about you?

Society bombards you with judgment on how you “should” be conducting your life, how you “should” be carrying yourself, and how you “should” be keeping certain company.

You’ve heard before, “Just be the best version of yourself! Live your best life.” Yet, you feel like you’ve lost your unique and authentic self. And there’s a voice deep down in your soul that’s screaming to be free!

Healing takes more than time.

One of the abiding myths that society spreads about mental health is that, if you leave a situation long enough, time will eventually erode the problem, healing your wounds. The idea that, no matter how painful, the mere passage of time will heal all things.

Feels like a gut punch, right? Yes, time is helpful for healing, yet it’s not a panacea.

Together, we can maneuver the labyrinth.

When you treat your emotions like enemies, they’ll begin to feel like enemies.

Perhaps you use “busyness” as a distraction thinking you can outrun your emotions. Or maybe you intellectualize your feelings as a defense mechanism to minimize the pain. You say to yourself, “But I feel bad about the bad feelings, so this must equate to weakness.”

Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional. From early on, the culture instills that to feel bad must be bad. This is a misapprehension.

Therapy is sometimes uncomfortable because – guess what? When we talk about our feelings, things can get messy and feel out of sorts. You may need to dust out some unfinished emotional cobwebs.

But don’t worry! We will work together to achieve the “emotional fitness” you deserve!

Having a therapeutic alliance is key.

Why is the therapeutic relationship so important?

Think about any solid relationship you have – family, friends, colleagues.

If you trust them, you can confidently be yourself around them. You learn and grow more around them because you’re relaxed.

That atmosphere – that bond – that trust – all are essential in therapy.

About Me

Everything on this page reads very near and dear to my heart. Why?

In our lifetimes, we all experience trauma, stress, anxiety – it’s not uncommon for this to unravel our lives.

The truth is, at one time, I felt lost – searching for my sense of “true self.” After 20 years of marriage and a sudden turn of events, there I was, trying to figure out my purpose as I plunged into being a middle-aged (yes, I said it!) divorced woman, working full-time with two kids at home.

It was hard – many days left me feeling like I just couldn’t do it. But, with the help of therapy, I persevered. I pushed through this fear.

I finished my undergraduate degree, took a semester off to breathe – literally – and continued to graduate school in counseling. Continuing my education, I graduated with my Master’s degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University.

After years of searching and finding myself, I knew I wanted to help others find their best selves. Inspired by what counseling did for me when I was lost, I knew I wanted to help anyone I could with their unique personal journey.

Over the years, I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life with diverse experiences, personalities, and backgrounds. Difference and otherness make us who we are, and I enjoy working and connecting with clients and seeing their unique characteristics and charms.

My virtual office is a safe space – where all are welcome, where you and I can connect – where we work toward a brighter tomorrow. There is no one single approach for counseling – it all comes down to the individual.

Counseling can be a scary step for many, but together, we’ll find the methods that work best for you.

To say counseling changed my life would be a sweeping understatement: it helped me get my life back on track, drove me to get my degree in counseling, and, truly, it helped me to find myself.

I now hope to use these experiences and my knowledge of counseling to help you on your special journey.
